Yannick Verweij (1994, Cabadbaran, De Filipijnen) is scenograaf en theatermaker. Hij volgde zijn bachelor in ‘Theatre Design’ aan de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht (HKU, afgestudeerd in 2017) en zijn master in ‘Drama’ aan de Koninklijke Academie voor de Schone Kunsten te Gent (KASK, afgestudeerd in 2021). Ervaring deed hij op bij internationale ontwerpers als Clement & Sanôu, Michael Levine en voor video ontwerper Finn Ross.
In de afgelopen jaren richtte Yannick zich op het ontwikkelen van nieuwe opera, waarbij hij zich verdiepte in de multidisciplinaire samenwerkingen. Yannick beoefend als maker diverse disciplines uit binnen de podiumkunsten waaronder als ontwerper (decor, kostuum, licht, video), maar ook als regisseur en schrijver. Sinds 2018 is hij ook werkzaam als docent voor diverse vakken bij de opleiding Theatre Design aan de HKU. Recente projecten zijn onder andere: 'De Bananengeneratie' - Theater Oostpool, producties bij Philharmonie de Luxembourg en La Biennale di Venezia (scenografie voor het Nederlandse Paviljoen).
Aankomende projecten zijn o.a. bij De Nationale Opera, Opera Zuid, De Toneelmakerij en Theater Oostpool.

Yannick Verweij is a scenographer and theatre maker. He obtainned his bachelor’s degree in theatre design at HKU University for the Arts in Utrecht (the Netherlands) and a master’s degree in drama from the School of Arts (KASK) in Ghent (Belgium). He gained experience by working for international stage designers such as Clement & Sanôu, Michael Levine and video designer Finn Ross. In recent years, Verweij has developed a passion for writing and directing new opera works, focusing on the processes of multidisciplinary collaboration and communication. As a maker, his field of interest spans a gamut of disciplines within the performing arts, including design (sets, costume, lighting, video), directing and writing. He worked on projects that have been performed in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Japan. Verweij also teaches theatre design at HKU University for the Arts in Utrecht. Recent projects include a set designs for Philharmonie de Luxembourg, Theater Oostpool in Arnhem (the Netherlands) and the design of the scenography for the Dutch Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
Upcoming engagements are with Dutch National Opera and Opera Zuid, De Toneelmakerij and Theater Oostpool.
