Winterwater
"WINTERWATER" is the coming-of-age story of Lex, an innocent boy who gazes at the world with wonder. Growing up in a traditional Frisian village with a French father, strict religious mother, and two brothers, Lexje fearlessly asks the profound questions that no one else does. Viewed as pagan and rebellious, he faces violence from those who are supposed to love him. Fortunately, he finds solace in his vivid imagination, the neighbor's dog, and Freddie Mercury. However, when a terrible event leaves him with no one to turn to, the loneliness takes its toll. Studio Figur, Rieks Swarte, and production house Feikes Huis join forces to create a unique visual performance incorporating puppets, drawings, live cinema, and music. Based on the debut novel by Lex Paleaux, this fictional story is rooted in real events.
